Programs:  Health and Wellness Education for Children and the Elderly

We have documentary photos and videos of many of our activities in West Africa. OSV- Togo’s educational aspect of the program focuses on both adult and children. Adult literacy programs are geared towards empowering the people as well as their communities in areas of health basic human rights and independence and security. The adult literacy programs will focus on women who were denied educational opportunities and those who dropped out of school as a result of teen pregnancies and poverty, to give them the chance to read and write and be positive contributors to their communities. Children’s program will focus on providing school supplies, computers, uniforms, shoes school bags snacks and food. School fees programs would also be established to support poor single parents and orphan students who cannot afford school fees.  School Books for Africa Program: We solicit, collect, ship, and donate books and educational resources to schools, libraries, and community learning centers in Africa specifically West Africa and Togo. We encourage organizations and individuals to contact us with support, and partner with us for donations to English and french speaking countries.  Disease Prevention Program : This program is exclusively in support of the relief of the poor, and promotion of health, it is  also designed to provide basic training and instruction in understanding how communicable diseases spread and the importance of its control. This Program is designed to educate families and communities about proper hygiene,  community health awareness and disease prevention. Other programs  listed below would be stressed;

-Educate people about the health risks associated with unsanitary living conditions,

-Adult literacy programs that empowers communities to be self sufficient, and enlightens the on the need for disease preventive activities, that mothers need to pass on to their children.The importance of discouraging children from biting/sucking dirty fingers.

-Educate the people on the morbidity and mortality rates of children under five in their communities, as well as the rate in other developed countries and help them to compare and understand the importance of how hygiene, safety, and quick response to change in child’s health can help reduce premature deaths in young children.

– Lists of communicable diseases and how to prevent, slow , control  or stop its spread.
– Emphasize the importance for parent, guardians or role models, to guide children  on basic skills and benefits of hand washing before and after eating.

-Emphasize safety measures  like washing hands after  contact with dirty surroundings,  and after using the toilets.

Implementation:

This program is in its  developmental stages and is planned to commence in the fourth quarter of 2014. The organization spends 50% of the time ensuring the successful outcome of this program and planned activities. This program will be funded with donations from individuals, businesses, state grants, public and private foundations.

 Distribution of Basic Medical Supplies and Medicines:

This program is exclusively in support of exempt purpose of the relief for the poor, and promotion of health and  education. It is also  intended to supply and distribute, at no cost to the needy  people in the villages and towns of  Togo and West Africa, medical supplies and medications. Our organization intends to partner with NGO’s and other 501 (c) (3) organizations with a presence in Togo and/ or West Africa, of which OSV-TOGO intends to support with medical supplies and medicines to aide their missions.

Our Goal:

Is to coordinate efforts for medical relief and supplies to remote areas of Togo and West Africa in West Africa, with the intention of reducing mortality and morbidity rates in these under-served areas through education and health support.

OSV-TOGO.ORG’s mission is to provide health education and awareness, child nutrition, community empowerment through adult literacy programs, and provision of educational grant and support for school children up to high school.
